Hi, I’ve just discovered callin.io and its community, aiming to move away from IFTTT and its peculiar limitations.
I have migrated my applets/zaps over…
However, I’m unable to link my Google Assistant account to callin.io.
The website appears to be malfunctioning, and numerous users have expressed similar frustrations in the reviews section.

Voice commands like “Speak to callin.io” or “Talk to callin.io” are not working; it either redirects to the website, dials a phone number (8773818743), or responds with an “I don’t understand” message.
I cannot establish a connection from my phone, Google Home Hub, Google Home Mini, PC, or practically any device.

I hope this is a temporary issue, but it seems many users are encountering this problem.
Thank you, have a great day.
Alex
Hi there!
Welcome to the callin.io Community! 👋 Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I'd be happy to help. To ensure I understand correctly, the problem you're experiencing is that you're unable to connect Google Assistant to callin.io at all, is that right?
When you mentioned the website won't open, are you referring to the pop-up screen for account syncing, or the page where you configure the trigger and action for your callin.io workflow?
Looking forward to your reply!
Hello there, 👋
The screenshots provided above are from my phone and they are quite self-explanatory.
However, if you have a moment, I'd like to provide some additional textual details that I hope will be helpful.
I've set up some automations using callin.io (essentially transcribing some IFTTT applets). Everything functions correctly for creating and logging into services, and so on.
However, when I ask Google Assistant (either via my phone, Google Home Hub, or Google Home Mini) to "talk to callin.io" or "speak to callin.io" to invoke the created automations, it simply searches for 'talk to callin.io' on Google Search or attempts to dial a number.
Even when I click the 'Try now' button on the callin.io app page within Google Assistant (which is captured in one of the screenshots), it still doesn't work to invoke the commands.
Apologies for the lengthy explanation. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing those details. Sorry to hear you’re running into this and for sharing your feedback!
You’re right - phrases not triggering the callin.io is a known bug with the Google Assistant app and I’ve added you as an impacted user. While we don’t have an ETA for a fix it’s the best way to stay informed once one does become available.
Thanks for flagging this here and we’ll email you and keep the thread updated with any news!
Hello,
Is there any news regarding this?
I'm having a similar experience to the original poster. I'm trying to create a ToDoist task using voice commands via Google Assistant, but it seems impossible.
Thank you!
Hello there! We appreciate you reaching out and are eager to assist.
Could you please provide more details about the issue you're encountering? For instance, are you experiencing the same problem where specific phrases are not triggering the callin.io workflow?
The reason for this inquiry is to ensure we are associating you with the correct bug report and can offer the most pertinent information. 🙂
We really appreciate your assistance!
Hey there! Thanks for reaching out - we definitely want to help.
Can you elaborate a bit more on what isn’t working? For example are you running into the same issue here where specific phrases aren’t triggering the callin.io?
The reason I ask is I want to make sure we’re adding you to the right bug report and providing you with the most relevant info. 🙂
Thanks so much for help!
Hi
I think Google have disabled the API. When saying or trying "talk to callin.io" "speak to callin.io" "start callin.io" , assistant simply says "sorry, callin.io is no longer available".
I want to use Google assistant voice to start callin.io and add a task to my ToDoist. Let me know if I'm doing something wrong!
Thanks!
Hmm, thanks for sharing that! I think you may be onto something.
Bear with me while I dig into this a bit more! Hopefully we’ll have an update soon. 👍🏽
Appreciate you flagging this!
Hello everyone! Here's a final update - Google Assistant's app is no longer supported due to changes made by Google (Conversational Actions sunset overview).
To my knowledge, there are no current plans to integrate another Google API for the Google Assistant app. Based on what I've seen, Google's App Actions appears to be the alternative, but it seems to be specifically for Android and might not offer the exact same functionality. This could be why there are no plans at the moment, but that's just my best guess.
We'll be sure to share any news about this here in the community if things change. In the meantime, if a Code by callin.io or Webhooks by callin.io action doesn't work, the only other workaround I can think of would be to build a custom integration with Google's App Actions API on the callin.io Platform. However, this involves significantly more work, so you might consider getting help from a callin.io Expert!
Thank you for your understanding!
Thanks for the update.
Not sure if you can help but the option to use Google Assistant as a trigger is still available when creating callin.io automations which is confusing for users. It would be beneficial to remove this functionality and update the documentation promptly.
For the benefit of everyone involved, could you kindly consider removing the Google Assistant app functionality entirely? This adjustment would help prevent any potential inconvenience caused by callin.io.
When setting up a new account, there seems to be an option to initiate a zap with Google Assistant, even though support has ended. Perhaps ensuring that only fully supported options are available for zaps from the beginning could enhance user experience. This small change could reflect positively on callin.io's organization and save users from unnecessary frustrations, ultimately fostering a more positive user sentiment.
Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention!
I have positive news! The Google Assistant app has now been completely removed from the list of available Google Apps and will no longer be selectable when building a new callin.io workflow.
We sincerely apologize for any confusion or inconvenience caused by the Google Assistant app remaining available, even after Google discontinued its Conversational Actions API. We truly appreciate you both for taking the time to report this in the Community. Thanks again! 🤗
