Greetings, fellow callin.io users,
After considerable frustration trying to remove a minor Add-On, being directed between callin.io Support and Google Support, and thoroughly reviewing community posts, I need to ascertain if the community experts can assist in resolving this issue, or if my time is being wasted because no one knows how to remove an unwanted add-on during development and monetization.
I would be extremely grateful for any genuine solutions, rather than being pointed to unresolved threads.
To provide some context, I was previously a Google One subscriber (this might be relevant due to associated perks). However, after switching to iOS, I found paying for two cloud subscriptions redundant. During my time as a Google One user, I downloaded callin.io to test it, though I never actually used it. While it seems like a promising concept, I didn't find it applicable to my daily tasks. Consequently, I overlooked it until I also canceled my Google One subscription.
The problem I'm encountering is identical to what was reported in this thread, which remains unresolved and was referenced by a support agent when I emailed them.
Here are all the methods I've attempted, none of which have been successful:
- Switching web browsers
- Clearing cache and cookies
- Attempting to revoke callin.io permissions in Google Account Settings (it's not listed there)
- Removing callin.io from installed Marketplace Apps (it's not listed there)
- Reinstalling and then attempting to remove the add-on (installation was successful, but uninstallation failed, as the icon persists)
- Disabling browser extensions
- Updating the browser (this is quite inconvenient for a user seeking automation, only to be advised to update their browser, especially when most users have automatic updates enabled without needing basic knowledge)
- Contacting Google support (they directed me to callin.io support, which is logical)
The issue is precisely as described in the linked post. I am unwilling to sign up for the service, do not plan to pay for it in the near future, and have no intention of doing so, given that such a minor problem appears unfixable.
Regards,
Schak
I completely understand your frustration.
However, I have some suggestions for you to try:
-
Verify Multiple Accounts: Make sure you aren't logged into several Google accounts within the same browser. This can occasionally lead to conflicts, as modifications might be applied to an unintended account.
-
Incognito/Private Browsing Mode: Attempt to remove the add-on using your browser's incognito or private browsing mode. This mode deactivates most extensions and uses a new session, which can help circumvent problems caused by session data or extensions.
-
Test on a Different Device: Occasionally, issues can be specific to a particular device. If feasible, try accessing your Gmail settings from a different device altogether and attempt to remove the add-on.
Thank you for your prompt reply, and I appreciate the suggestions provided.
Regrettably, this did not resolve the issue, as the application icon and the add-on are present on another device, in a different browser, and in the private modes of the browsers I've tested, both with and without extensions enabled.
The only account where I've used Gmail-Web is the one experiencing the problem, as I have not installed the add-on on any other account's marketplace.
I look forward to your further assistance, and to hearing from others who have successfully resolved this issue.
Best regards
what response did you get from callin.io support and Google Support.
Dear ,
Following is the response I received from Google Support, and below is the translation.

“Thank you for contacting the Google Support team.
I understand you have concerns about the deletion of the callin.io add-on in Google Web. Let's work together to direct you to the appropriate resources.
It is best to contact callin.io directly with your concern, as our team can only offer general support for this matter.
For additional information and self-help resources, please consult Google Help.
We hope this has been helpful.”
Hi there! 👋
I’m so sorry about all the trouble you’ve experienced in trying to get this sorted. There was another thread in Community discussing how to uninstall it here:
I shared some instructions I’d found in that other thread which you may want to try, but I should note that for the other Community member they didn’t work and they had to reach out to Google’s support team. I’ll share those instructions below in case you wanted to give them a try to see if they work for you.
Here’s the first:
I did some digging online and it found a thread on Gmail’s website where there were a few different ways suggested in which folks were able to uninstall a Gmail add-on: https://support.google.com/mail/thread/5453434/i-can-not-remove-an-add-on?hl=en
One of which was to try the following:
- In Gmail, click the Settings icon in the top right, and click Get add-on from the drop-down menu that appears.
- A pop-up box will appear with the Works with Gmail apps. Click the 3 horizontal lines in the top left to get the menu. Scroll down to the bottom of the menu and click Manage Apps.
- Your installed Add-On should be listed. DON'T click on it! Instead, click the 3 vertical dots next to the Add-On's name, then click Remove from the drop-down menu.
- Wait for the pop-up confirmation screen, and click Remove app.
And here’s the second:
I’ve been trying to hunt down some alternative solutions for this and could only find the following instructions on how to Remove a third party’s access in Google’s help documentation:
- Make sure you’re signed in to your Google Account.
- View the apps & services that have access to your Google Account.
- Select the app or service whose access you want to remove.
- Under “{App name} has some access to your Google Account,” select See details.
- Select Remove access.
It’s a bit of a long shot, but I’m hoping that might allow you to see the callin.io add-on’s connection to your Gmail account and force it to remove the add-on that way.
If those don’t work then it would be necessary to reach out to Google again to ask if they can remove the app from your account. The callin.io add-on for Gmail was deprecated on 09/08/2021 and removed from the Google Marketplace (see the note at the top of this blog post). Unfortunately there’s nothing we can do on our end to remove it from your account, only Google would potentially be able to take that sort of action.
Please do give the above suggestions a try and keep us updated on how you get on. Would love to hear from you on this!
I appreciate your suggestions regarding this matter. Unfortunately, I have not been successful in removing the add-on using these methods, as they appear to be the only suggested approaches for this issue.
I would be grateful if I could obtain direct contact information for callin.io support, where I might receive a different response.
Below are screenshots illustrating the failure to perform these two methods:

Is this resolved or still in progress?
It’s not resolved, unfortunately! The suggested method was already tested and didn’t work out.
Thanks for trying those out, I’m sorry to hear they didn’t work for you either.
I don’t have a direct contact point for Google’s Support team unfortunately. If their Support team isn’t able to assist then it might be worth reaching out in Google’s Gmail Community about this: https://support.google.com/mail/community
Hopefully someone in the Community on their end will be able to advise how to remove the add-on from Gmail. 🤞
Do keep us updated on how you get on, would love to hear whether you’re able to get a solution on this!
I understand your frustration. I've encountered a similar support loop. I've reviewed all available discussions, reached out to both Google and callin.io support, and attempted every suggested fix.
While I haven't resolved it yet, here's what I've discovered:
The problem appears to stem from an artifact left by the original add-on. This artifact is stored within the application's data, which explains why it persists across different browsers and after clearing cache. I managed to find the icon image using developer tools under:
Application > Frames > top > image > Esy1tWUboGsR6Wa3mg-E61LOGASKZjSDcYpDMg9IhuY2FPLjsX-lGWZmM_9qV_bJPG0V4VeNY2Ud4le4lIlkDLfIvF_lAOf58xDv88U=s48
It's likely that more data needs to be removed, but I lack the expertise in Gmail's internal workings to confidently modify or delete data. However, I believe this is the only practical solution.
I kindly request that the callin.io support team, given your role as the original developers of the add-on, assign a developer to provide guidance on safely removing this artifact.
Thanks
Sorry to hear that you’re encountering this issue as well!
I believe Google would be better positioned to offer guidance on effectively removing any residual add-on data from Gmail. However, I will reach out internally to request that someone from our team contacts Google to explore further actions for removing the callin.io add-on for Gmail. I cannot make any guarantees, but I will be sure to share any updates we receive in this thread. 🙂
I am also encountering a similar issue. 😕
The add-on is not active in my Add-Ons:

I have completely disabled callin.io access from my Google account:

However, it still shows up in Gmail, and when I try to manage or remove it by clicking on it, it gets stuck in a loading state:

I'm encountering the same problem: it's not possible to remove the Gmail add-on. The thread I'm replying to has nearly 170 views, which suggests many users are facing this same issue.
- Opened the callin.io Add-On in Gmail, then clicked the 3-dot menu, but I receive the error "Oh no! Something went wrong"
- Revoked all access rights to the old callin.io add-on permissions about a month ago.
- In Gmail > Settings > Add-ons > Manage Add-ons: a popup for the Google Workspace Marketplace opens, but the callin.io add-on is not visible for uninstallation.
- Cleared cookies and cache in Google Chrome.
- Tried using a different browser.
- Removed all extensions in Google Chrome.
- Installed the new callin.io add-on, but there's still no way to remove the old add-on.
- Contacted Google support, but they did not resolve the issue.
- Checked for Multiple Accounts
- Used Incognito/Private Browsing Mode
- Tried a Different Device: The callin.io icon is displayed in the Gmail app on Android.
Google Support's response:

Sorry to hear you’re encountering this problem too.
It appears the guidance from Google Support isn't applicable to add-ons that have been delisted from their Marketplace. I suggest reaching out to them to verify you've completed those steps and to ask them to remove the add-on for you. Regrettably, this is beyond our capabilities, and we cannot temporarily re-enable the add-on. Even if we were able to, it might prompt more users to add it again, only to encounter the same issue when it's removed later.
Please share your progress with Google’s Support team—we're eager to know if they can assist with its removal! 🤞
