Why don’t my sales calls with Callin.io hook prospects from the greeting?

I’m using Callin.io for real estate sales, and I’ve noticed a problem: most prospects hang up within the first few seconds. The AI agent works fine, but the initial greeting feels cold or too standard, almost like telemarketing.

I’ve tried lines like: ‘Hi, this is John from [company], how can I help you?’ but that sounds more like customer support than a sales call with value. What kind of greetings do you use to build trust and capture attention right from the start?

I ran into the same issue. The trick is that the greeting should never be generic or pushy: it must start with courtesy, introduce the agent clearly, and deliver real value from the very first second. Here are greetings that worked much better for me in sales:

  1. Courtesy + direct benefit
“Good morning, this is Giorgia from Gabetti Monza Centro. I’m calling because we’re offering free property valuations to homeowners in the area, so you can know the real value of your home today.”

  2. Courtesy + social proof
“Good afternoon, this is Giorgia from Gabetti Monza Centro. Many neighbors were surprised to find their homes were worth more than they thought. Would you like to know the current value of yours?”

  3. Courtesy + light urgency
“Good morning, this is Giorgia from Gabetti Monza Centro. The market is changing quickly, and it may be useful to get an updated valuation of your property—completely free, no strings attached.”

  4. Courtesy + directed choice
“Good afternoon, this is Giorgia from Gabetti Monza Centro. We’re offering free one-hour valuations. Would you prefer to schedule it in the morning or in the afternoon?”

  5. Courtesy + confident close
“Good morning, this is Giorgia from Gabetti Monza Centro. If it works for you, we can set up a free valuation visit right away. I have availability on Wednesday at 10:00 or Thursday at 4:00. Which time suits you better?”

What I learned is that a neutral greeting kills the call. If you just start with “Hi, how can I help you?”, the prospect doesn’t see any value and hangs up. But when the greeting combines courtesy, clear identity, and a real benefit, people tend to stay on the line and listen.
